The Hong Kong English Institute is committed to ensuring Hong Kong remains as the principal English-speaking hub in China for future generations. The Institute offers proposals on how Hong Kong can reinvigorate the use of English in academic, cultural, and commercial settings.
Missions:
- Formalize and examine Chinese-English as a cultural entity, as a representation of Hong Kong’s unique history.
- Promote the English language as one of Hong Kong’s vital economic infrastructures, one that will require continuous maintenance past primary, secondary, tertiary education.
- Study how English is currently being taught outside of the school setting and its effectiveness in improving student capabilities.
